In a striking return to Conservative (e.g. medieval) Values, Ireland has signed into Law new requirements making it illegal to say blasphemous or derogatory comments about religion. Violators can be fined up to 25,000 Euros. This includes speech, articles, comments, parodies, satires and any other form of communicative media.
This is an unusual development in a country that has been noted for it recent progress in liberal arts and science.
