Man Dies in Fire Pit Roasting Pig

As a weird beginning to the New Year, an Arizona man dies in his fire pit as he is roasting a pig for a New Year's party. Authorities suspect he may have been drinking, and somehow slipped into the three foot pit. He was unable to climb out due to the heat, and slowly roasted to death. By the time his family heard his cries, it was too late. They are understandably, quite distraught.

Slavery or Suicide?

It seems a large percentage of low wage migrant female maids have been noted as having committed suicide in the Middle East. Most of these "suicides" were by hanging or falling off a building. This story has striking parallels to the deaths of other workers in other regions of the world, such as the bodies that regularly wash up on the shores of Thailand, which are suspected to be from the shrimping industry.

The rise of Globalism has created a vast network of cheap labor (eg, Slavery), where the people who get caught up in the industry get paid a very small pittance, but cannot escape or fight back in any way. Those who do end up dead.

RIP - Wizard of Waukesha

For those of you, like me, who play guitar. Today is a sad day in history. The great guitar innovator Les Paul has died. His solid body and semi-hollow body style guitars changed the world of 20th century music and remained highly sought after musical instruments. This is a great loss for the world of music. He died at 94 in White Plains, NY of pneumonia.

First Ever Free-Climber Falls to his Death...

John Bachar, the inventor of the extreme sport of free Rock-climbing, fell to his death on July 5th, 2009. He was climbing at Dike Wall, near Mammoth Lakes, California. It was a location close to his home which he regularly climbed.

John Bachar was well known for climbing stuff that even seasoned climbers using rope gear and belays would not attempt, and he did it all with no gear other than a small bag of chalk powder. Many movies, videos, and photos were taken of him during his climbs, and he very nearly reached "Rock Star" status among climbers. He did much to popularize Rock Climbing into the sport it is today. He was an active climber for 33 years, and was THE first to climb with no rope belay, or "Soloing" as it is known in the sport.

Bonnie and Clyde Day

Seeing as I am originally from the place these two came from. I thought it appropriate to mention that 75 years ago today, at 915 a.m. they died on the road outside of Gibsland, Louisiana. Their past finally catching up with them in a hail of police bullets.

Other than the dated clothes and car, Bonnie doesn't look to much different than the youth of today. This pair, as murderous as they were, became one the first underground Pop icons in American history.
